What is a psychoeducational assessment?
A psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that helps to understand how a child or youth thinks, reasons, and processes information. It identifies strengths, areas of difficulty, and provides clear recommendations to support the child or youth's unique needs. A psychoeducational assessment includes evaluation of:
Cognitive abilities (thinking and reasoning skills)
Academic skills (reading, writing, math, and language)
Attention and executive functioning (i.e. working memory, focus, organization, planning, impulse control, self-regulation).
Social–emotional and behavioural functioning (i.e. emotional well-being, behaviour patterns, mood, peer interactions, and coping strategies)
Adaptive functioning (when needed) (Practical life skills such as communication, daily living, and social skills)
Why is a psychoeducational assessment administered?

A learning disability
ADHD
An emotional or behavioral disorder
Intellectual disability
Intellectual giftedness
Any other social, emotional, behavioral, or cognitive factors that may be impacting school performance
A psychoeducational assessment will also be used to:

Inform Individualized Education Plans (IEPs/IIPs)
Guide interventions, tutoring, or clinical supports
What will families and schools receive:
A full written report with clear results and explanations
Tailored recommendations for home and school
A feedback meeting to discuss findings and next steps
Documentation that can support school-based accommodations and post-secondary accessibility services
