Meet Jody
Jody Bender, M.Ed.
Registered Psychologist #1190
I am a Registered Psychologist and the owner of Blooming Minds Psychological Services. My practice focuses primarily on comprehensive psychological assessment for children and youth, including psychoeducational and autism assessments.
I work collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals to better understand each child’s unique pattern of strengths and needs. My goal is not simply to arrive at a diagnosis, but to make sense of the information gathered through assessment and translate it into practical recommendations that can support the child in their everyday life.
I believe families should leave the assessment process with greater clarity and a better understanding of their child—what they do well, where they may be struggling, and what can be done to support them moving forward.
My Approach
Comprehensive
Assessment considers the whole child. Cognitive, academic, developmental, behavioural, emotional, and everyday functioning are considered as appropriate to the referral questions.
Individualized
No two children are exactly alike. Assessment is tailored to the individual child rather than using the same process for every referral.
Collaborative
Parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals can provide important perspectives. When appropriate and with consent, information from multiple settings is brought together to develop a more complete understanding of the child.
Practical
Assessment should lead to useful next steps. Recommendations are designed to be clear, realistic, and relevant to the child’s needs at home, at school, and in the community.
